1. Why a workspace
A tariff prompt is only as good as the facts in it: the product, the origin, the code, the dates, the costs. Typing those into every prompt is slow and easy to get wrong, and when a rule changes you have to do it all again. The Tariff Command Center is a private workspace that asks for each fact once and fills it into every prompt that uses it.
For a small business, the value is time: instead of rebuilding a long prompt each time an import duty change is announced, you update one field and the personalized prompts refresh.
2. Open the workspace
After purchase, open your library and choose the book, then open the workspace. You choose the language (English is currently available) and land in the Tariff Command Center. Members can also preview part of a book before buying, as described on the book page.
3. Fill in your details once
The workspace uses a small set of shared details, such as product name, origin country, HTS code, effective date and the customer segments you serve. Fill in the ones relevant to the problem in front of you; you do not have to complete them all. Use exact, dated facts rather than approximations, and copy codes and dates from official pages. If you do not know something yet, leave it blank and let the prompt ask you for it.
4. Choose your situation
The book is organized in five stages: Measure, Monitor, Source, Price and Protect. Pick the stage that matches your situation: a new announcement usually starts in Monitor, then Measure, then Price. The research page lists all 20 categories in the problem map.
5. Copy the personalized prompt
When you open a prompt, your saved details replace the highlighted placeholders. Review the result, then copy it into the AI tool you use. Each prompt asks the assistant to request any missing inputs before it answers, so you can start with partial information. Always treat the output as a draft: check every rate, code and date against the official source before you rely on it.
6. Keep your records and revisit
Your details are saved in your own browser, so you can come back when the next announcement arrives and update only what changed. Keep the outputs, their sources and their dates in your own records. The recalculation workflow shows how to turn those saved facts into a repeatable routine, and the article why import duties keep changing explains what to watch between reviews.
What the workspace does and does not store
The Tariff Command Center keeps the details you type in your own browser so that you do not have to retype them into each prompt. It is a convenience layer for personalizing text, not a customs system. It does not look up live tariff rates, file entries or contact your supplier, and nothing in it should be treated as a statement of what duty applies to your goods. Always verify rates and classification with the official sources and, where needed, a licensed professional.
Tips for good inputs
Describe the product the way a customs officer would: what it is made of, what it does, how it is sold and how it is packaged. Include the supplier's quoted trade term, the unit cost in the currency quoted, your freight estimate and the date you last checked each number. Where you do not know a detail, write "unknown" rather than guessing; the prompts ask the assistant to flag unknowns and help you find them. The more precise and honest the inputs, the more useful the output.
Re-open the workspace whenever something changes. Updating one field is quicker than starting over, and the prompts you used before will pick up the new value automatically.
Privacy and good practice
Avoid putting customer personal data, bank details or passwords into any AI tool. Use product-level facts only. Keep your own copy of important outputs along with their sources and dates, because an AI answer is a draft to verify, not a record to rely on. If you need help, contact [email protected].
7. Request the PDF
If you prefer a traditional book, you can request the complete PDF by email from your library. The PDF carries the same prompts and the same notices as the workspace. Questions can be sent to [email protected].
